--- EN COURS DE TRADUCTION ---

I send you a letter of my father:
June 11, 1944 (La Hatainniere, Normandy, France – This is Lloyd’s first letter to Irma after the D-Day invasion)
Hello Darling, David and Mother,
I imagine you are very anxious to hear from me. This is the first time we have been allowed to write for quite some time.
First, I am well and getting along okay. Of course, you know all that has been going on lately you’ll not be surprised when I say that I am somewhere in France. Right now, Bicker and I are digging a well (meaning a foxhole). There was no church today and probably won’t be for while now. Anyway, we’re on the way home now, Honey, and please don’t worry about me. I’ll write every chance I get and whenever I have time.
I haven’t received any mail from you about 2 weeks now and doubt if I get any for at least another week.
France is much different than England and is more like the States. The french people are good to us and try to help us as much as they can. We were just trying to talk a Frenchman but didn’t make out so well. Save me more newspapers of this past week. Take care of yourselves. I love you so much.
All my love, forever, Lloyd.
